DARRELL BRICKEY

NORTON, VA – Darrell Brickey, 80, died Tuesday evening, May 6, 2025, at home with his loving family by his side. Darrell loved to play the guitar and was a member of the Brickey Brothers and the Uncut Grass bluegrass band. He was the owner operator of Brickey Produce Company having served Southwest Virginia and Eastern Kentucky. Darrell was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching the games on television. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Franklin Brickey and Nora Alice “Vona” James Brickey. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death a son, Jeffrey Bickey.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Zillar Brickey of Norton, Va.; two sons, Jimmy Brickey and his wife Melinda and Justin Brickey and his wife Charish, all of Norton, Va.; a grandson, Bo Brickey, and his wife Jennifer of Appalachia, Va.; and a brother, Rex Brickey and his wife Wanda of Norton, Va.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Friday, May 9, 2025, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Steve Powers officiating. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 11 am Saturday at Laurel Grove Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 am to travel in procession to the cemetery.
